Reston

Quality of life is first and foremost in this town, and it is reflected in the many parks.

Welcome to Reston

An idyllic planned community

Reston is a well-planned community that came to be in 1964. The idea was to create a beautiful place to live with neighborhood clusters surrounded by nature. The goal was to have a town where people could live, work, and play all in one location, and Reston achieved that goal. Quality of life is first and foremost in this town, and it is reflected in the many parks, leisure activities, recreational facilities, and focus on community ties.

True to its concept, different plazas and village centers have been strategically placed and include a mix of homes and townhouses combined with shopping areas, schools, places of worship, restaurants, and cafes. The International Style is a popular kind of architecture found in town. Planning and zoning are as important today as they were in the beginning, with homes and village shops surrounded by wooded areas, tennis courts, swimming pools, golf courses, and more.

Local Lifestyle

A good portion of life for the residents of Reston revolves around the Reston Town Center and the clustered village centers, including Lake Anne Plaza, South Lakes Village Center, and North Point Village Center as well as other plazas. Deliberately planned, these centers are vibrant and alive with everything the locals could want. They include recreation centers, restaurants, delis, healthcare offices, spas, boutiques, bookstores, art galleries, and farmers' markets. Yet life is still quiet with easy suburban living and plenty of green space.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Jackson’s Mighty Fine Food and Lucky Lounge is a local favorite for good old American food like their Crispy Fish Tacos. If you like Mediterranean and European food, the Spiced Beef Empanadas at the Barcelona Wine Bar might become your favorite.
When you’re craving a classic French bistro, look no further than Mon Ami Gabi, and rumor has it the Chicken Grand-Mére is amazing. For a fine Indian “gastronomical adventure,” there is Bombay Velvet and their Awadhi Lamb Seekh Kabab.

Man cannot live on bread alone. After a good meal, there’s no better place to make new friends than at the Reston Farmers Market, and you never know who you might run into at the Reston’s Used Book Shop

The Reston Town Center has fire pits in the Pavilion and a stage for concerts and performances. Stores in the Town Center include Apple, Lululemon, and Sephora. You will also find fun shops like Paddywax Candle Bar, where you can design and pour your own candle.

At the Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa, you can revive and restore your senses. At the Reston Museum, their walking tours throughout the village centers are a relaxing way to absorb some history.

Things to Do
